Chemical leak at West Lothian seafood factory sees four rushed to hospital

Four people ended up in hospital after a suspected chemical leak at a seafood factory in West Lothian.

Emergency services were called to Macrae Edinburgh in Livingston at about 2.30pm on Wednesday.

Workers in the building, part of Young’s Seafood, were evacuated after the alarm was raised.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We dispatched one ambulance, a manager and our special operations response team. Two patients were transported to St John’s Hospital.”

She added a two others sought treatment themselves.

Police Scotland were on the scene assisting with operations at the Starlaw Park industrial estate.

Fire crews also attended the incident.
