Thai committee agrees to raise minimum wage

Thailand’s national tripartite committee, consisting of representatives of workers, employers and the government, has decided the county’s minimum daily wage of THB 300 should increase by up to 5% next year, or THB 15, reports the Bangkok Post

The report is due to be submitted for approval to the newly-appointed labor minister Adul Sangsingkeo.

Tanit Sorat, vice-chairman of the Employers’ Confederation of Thai Trade and Industry, said the proposal to set a minimum wage rise of up to THB 15 would be submitted for approval within the next few weeks in order to be implemented by Jan 1, 2018.
